Why be involved?
Not because it “earns salvation,” or makes one “a more spiritual Christian” or “gains God’s favor.” In
fact the New Testament never commands Christians to teach Sunday School, or sing in the choir, or serve in the nursery. The New Testament limits itself to the command “not to neglect the gathering of the saints” on “the Lord’s Day,” the first day of the week, Sunday. (Hebrews 10:25)
So why should one get involved? Because being a Christian (not to mention being a human being) means living in community. This life together is one of God’s primary ways of bringing us in community with himself, as we learn from each other, serve each other, open up to each other, and enjoy one another.
Besides Sunday Worship, Christ the King has many opportunities for church community involvement thoughout the week including:
- Community Groups
- Women's Ministries
- Men's Ministries
- Youth Group
